A Proven and Awarded Family Car: Chevy Tops the Ranks by Kelley Blue Book

In Kelley Blue Book's (KBB) most recent ranking of the Best Family Cars of 2018, the Chevrolet brand made several appearances when ranking the Best 2-Row SUVs, Best 3-Row SUVs and Best Full-Size SUVs for Families with the Chevy Equinox, Chevy Traverse and Chevy Tahoe, respectively. Here at Koons White Marsh Chevrolet, we're quite proud of these rankings and we you to get in on the action by test driving any of these three exceptional SUVs right here at our dealership.

What Makes an SUV Good for the Family?

The phrase "family sedan" and "family SUV" get thrown around a lot, but what does that the term actually mean and what makes an SUV right for your family. Well, KBB based their rankings on several different criteria: including drivability, cargo versatility, comfort, child seats, technology and safety value data. With each SUV, there's a lot to love and a lot to offer you when it comes to the next car for you and your family.

The Chevy Equinox

Topping out the list of Best 2-Row SUVs is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, which made the list due to its driving manners and available technology, among other aspects. The highlighted available amenities that make the drive anywhere much more convenient include keyless entry, push-button start, automatic on/off headlights, three 12-volt power outlets, and the Chevy MyLink infotainment system.

The Chevy Traverse

The Chevy Traverse made certainly stood out because of it's available family-friendly features, but also in its overall interior space with 23 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the third row, which increases as you fold down the seats to about 98.2 cubic feet behind the third row. With its three rows of seating the Traverse allows its passengers to enjoy about 34-41 inches of leg room and 38-41 inches of headroom. It's 3.6-liter V6 engine delivers a smoother and more efficient ride than you'll see in your average SUV.

The Chevy Tahoe

The Tahoe delivers a lot better driving behavior than some of its equally-large competitors with its 5.3-liter, 355-horsepower V8 engine as well as GM's Magnetic Ride Control® making the Tahoe much easier to maneuver in the city or on the highway. Like many other Chevy models, the Tahoe comes standard with Teen Driving Mode, which tracks the progress of your aspiring driver's driving abilities and keeps you updated. Plus, this mode can allow you to disable certain aspects of the car, such as the stereo system, so that the teen's focus is entirely on the road!
