The Small SUV with More to Offer Baltimore and Beyond: The Chevrolet Trax vs The Ford EcoSport

The modern sport utility vehicle comes in all different shapes, colors, and sizes with each one offering a little bit more where powertrain, comfort and convenience features are concerned. Here at Koons White Marsh Chevrolet, we have one SUV that's almost tailor-made with you in mind: the 2018 Chevrolet Trax. This smaller SUV has all of the right space, efficiency and convenience to make it the perfect SUV for the average family or even to those who just like the feel of a good SUV. However, talking about an SUV's best features and showing them to you are completely different things, so let's see how the Chevy Trax stacks up against another well-known SUV of its class: the 2018 Ford EcoSport.

  • Whether you're traveling to nearby Ellicott City or out to Washington, DC, you'll be able to get there easily no matter which trim of the Chevy Trax you choose, as all come standard with a navigation system, courtesy of OnStar®. OnStar is not featured on the Ford EcoSport and the base trim levels do not come available with a navigation system.
  • The Chevy Trax has a lot more powertrain to contribute with its inline four-cylinder (I4) engine that generates 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of engine torque. Whereas, the Ford EcoSport base I4 engine of the Ford EcoSport produces 123 horsepower and 125 pound-feet.
  • The Chevy Trax is considerably more lightweight, thus, aiding its fuel efficiency in the long run and weighs in at 2,805 pounds. The Trax is 215 pounds lighter than the Ford EcoSport, which weighs in at 3,020 pounds.
  • The Chevy Trax makes the journey from Parkville to White Marsh and beyond considerably easier with fewer stops at the pump, thanks to its EPA-estimated 33 miles to the gallon capability on the highway. The Ford EcoSport, by contrast, gains about 27 miles per gallon on the highway.
  • Finally, when it comes to providing some extra safety and convenience for you, as the driver, the Chevy Trax comes standard with steering-wheel mounted audio and cruise controls on all of its trims. These controls are absent from the steering wheel on the base trim of the Ford EcoSport and must be upgraded.
