What if I still owe money on my car?

If you still owe money on your car, or have a lien, we'll help contact the bank to get a payoff and get the lien released. If you have a previously paid-off lien, you'll need to bring the title as well as the lien release before you can sell your car to us.


What if I owe more money than my car is worth?

If you owe more money on your car that we appraise it for, or you have negative equity, this can usually be included in the financing if you buy a car from Koons. If you aren't in the market for another car, we can calculate the difference between what you owe is less than $1000, we will also be able to accept personal checks or major credit card.


Is the offer you give me negotiable?

No. The offer we make you will be fair and based on numerous factor.  It is non-negotiable.  There is no obligation to sell us your car, even after we appraise it.


What happens to my car after I sell it to you?

Depending on the condition of your car, it will either be resold on our lot or at our wholesale bid sale.  If we decide to resell it, we will put it through our rigorous inspection process, Maryland State inspect it, and bring the vehicle up to the condition that Koons customers have come to expect from our dealership.


When and how will I receive payment for my car?

Once a price is agreed upon, we will cut you a check as soon as our accounting department has been consulted and has determined that all the appropriate documents are in house to complete the sale.  If there is no lien on your vehicle and all the paperwork is in, you will usually receive your check within one business day.


Where do I find my car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)?

Your car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) can be found on the driver's side windshield in the lower corner near the barcode. It can also be found insider the driver's door.


What if my car is leased?

You'll need to contact your leasing company for all the details, but usually your leased vehicle can be sold nearly the same way as anby other financed vehicle.  After we appraise it, we'll contact the leasing company to see how much you owe.  We can then process any equity and work with the bank to get your car paid off.


Can I change my mind after I sell you my car?

No.  After you sell us your car we cannot sell it back to you.  However, after we appraise your car you have 7 days or 500 miles to decide whether or not you would like to sell it to us.


What if all the title holder's can't be present?

If all title holders cannot come into the dealership for the sale, please contact us toll free at 1-866-525-8949 or locally at 410-931-8600


For how long is the offer you give me good?

You have 7 days (or 500 miles on your vehicle) to decide whether or not you would like to sell us your car at the appraised value.  If you exceed these terms, the car would have to be re-appraised.
