The White Marsh area offers a wide variety of fun activities for all the family. If you’re looking for a memorable way to fill a weekend or afternoon with your kids, we have several suggestions.

FAMILY RACING AT THE GO-KART TRACK

The Go-Kart Track offers everything you need for an exciting day out with your family. This destination has three exciting go-kart tracks and a nine-hole mini-golf course, so everyone can find something to enjoy.

The Junior Track is the easiest track on site. It’s designed for younger drivers who are over 42 inches tall. The Family Track provides fun for everyone. You can take a two-seater kart and cruise around with a younger child who isn’t ready to drive on their own yet, and single-seat carts are also available on this track for drivers at least 48 inches tall. The Drift Track features faster carts that can drift around the turns and offers added fun for older kids, teens, and adults. The height requirement for the Drift Track is 54 inches.

After you’ve worked up an appetite at the track, you can stop next door for a bite to eat at Charcoal Style. This restaurant serves pit beef, pit turkey, pit ham, chicken tenders, hot dogs, pork BBQ, wings, and burgers with fresh-cut fries or onion rings so you can refuel for more fun.

Location: 10907 Pulaski Highway, White Marsh.

CATCH A MOVIE AT BENGIES DRIVE-IN

Bengies opened in 1956 to the delight of the surrounding community. At that time, Bengies had the largest CinemaScope screen tower available. Today, the theater retains many of its original amenities, including sizable restrooms and a well-stocked snack bar with two lanes. Every show begins with the National Anthem in keeping with the theater’s longstanding tradition. On Fridays and Saturdays, the theater typically hosts a triple feature, with a double feature on Sundays. In between movies, Bengies shows vintage intermission trailers while you stretch your legs and head to the concession stand.

You’ll enjoy hours of entertainment with a night at this drive-in theater. The snack bar provides plenty of treats to keep your family satisfied throughout the evening. You’ll find options such as breaded mushrooms, cream cheese poppers, egg rolls, corn dogs, chicken tenders, burgers, pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, nachos, pretzels, and more. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack, a full lineup of shareable appetizers, or a filling meal, you can get something to accompany the films.

Location: 3417 Eastern Blvd., Middle River.

EXPLORE GUNPOWDER FALLS STATE PARK

Gunpowder Falls State Park is an expansive space that’s broken down into several smaller areas. The Central Jerusalem Mill Area is a great place to start, bordering both the Big and Little Gunpowder Falls. Here, you’ll find the historic Jerusalem Mill Village, Graham Equestrian Center, hiking trails, and fishing opportunities.

The Hammerman Area, which is popular with families, has a 1,500-foot beach complete with a designated swimming area, bathhouse, concessions, and picnic tables. Beyond the swimming beach, you’ll find spots for fishing. Canoe and kayak rentals are available on-site. This part of the park also features a playground and hiking trails, so you’ll have everything you need for a full day with the family.

The Sweet Air area has 18 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Covering 1,250 acres, it offers plenty of space to explore Little Gunpowder Falls. The Hereford Area of the park encompasses 3,620 acres of carefully preserved wilderness, crisscrossed with over 20 miles of wooded trails. The trout fishing here is outstanding, and the waters offer an exciting place for kayaking, tubing, and canoeing. If you’d like to plan an overnight excursion with your family, you can even book the Mill Pond Cottage for up to eight people.

If you’re interested in boating, head to Dundee Creek Marina in Gunpowder Falls State Park. Here you’ll find boat rentals, bait, fishing tackle, gas, boating accessories, ice, food, and anything else you might need for a day out on the water.

The Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail passes Gunpowder Falls State Park, offering another opportunity for family fun. This trail spans 19.7 miles. Open to cyclists, joggers, walkers, and horseback riders, this multipurpose trail is a great way to expand your horizons and start exploring the surrounding area. It passes through several historic communities, including White Hall and Phoenix, on its way from Ashland, Maryland, to the Maryland/Pennsylvania line.

VISIT WEBER’S CIDER MILL FARM

Weber’s Cider Mill Farm offers an abundance of family-friendly activities to keep you and your children entertained all day long. Here, you’ll find the oldest cider mill in continuous use in the state of Maryland. This working farm has stayed in the Weber family for three generations, producing an abundance of crops, pressing its own fresh cider, and operating a gift shop and bakery. The farm grows apples, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupes, peaches, nectarines, pears, plums, watermelons, corn, pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, and much more.

Out on the Peachberry Farm, you can pick your own produce, including apples, peaches, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Stop at the bakery to check even more items off your grocery list. Here you’ll find an abundance of pies, cakes, and other baked goods, such as cheddar cheese bread, dinner rolls, and raisin bread. The bakery also offers fudge and hand-dipped ice cream when you need a special treat.

The farm is especially exciting during the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival each September and over the fall harvest days that run from mid-September through early November. During these events, you can enjoy barnyard fun, including a mini maze, straw maze, barrel train ride, gem mining, barnyard animals, hayrides, live music, caricature art, and the boo barn.
