Not all pickup trucks are the same, and Chevrolet rises above other manufacturers’ trucks with the Silverado lineup. The 1500, 2500, and 3500 all have the same underpinnings, but Chevy designed each one with a different purpose in mind. If you want to find out more about buying or leasing a Silverado in the Baltimore area, we can help you decide which one is right for you. Here’s a quick comparison to give you an idea of what you can get with each model and what the 1500, 2500HD, and 3500HD are all capable of.

THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

The Silverado 1500 is a versatile half-ton pickup truck and the smallest in the lineup. For the 2022 model year, it received some significant updates to its cabin features and infotainment technology. The dashboard has a new look, and many of the cabin materials have been upgraded for a more upscale look.

The engine lineup for the Silverado 1500 includes four powertrains. You can choose from the following:

  • A 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It generates 310 horsepower and gets 420 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes standard with the Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, the LT, and the RST with the double cab.
  • A 5.3-liter V-8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It generates 355 horsepower and gets 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes standard with the Trail Boss, the LTZ, and the High Country and is optional for the Work Truck, the RST, and the LT.
  • A 6.2-liter V-8 gas powertrain with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It generates 420 horsepower and gets 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes standard with the ZR2 and is optional for the Custom Trail Boss, the LT Trail Boss, the RST, the LTZ, and the High Country.
  • A 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It generates 277 horsepower and gets 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine is optional for the LT, the LT Trail Boss, the LTZ, and the High Country.
  •

The 2022 Silverado 1500 will come with Chevy’s Super Cruise hands-free driving technology if you have the High Country trim. The rest of the 1500 lineup comes standard with safety technologies such as forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, an automatic high beam headlight system, and lane-keep assist. A new 13.4-inch touch screen sits in the middle of the dashboard of this truck, and it comes with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Chevy’s latest infotainment system with Google voice assistant and the Google app store.

THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD

Step up to the Silverado 2500, and you get into Heavy Duty territory. The latest version of the 2500 offers the Multi-Flex tailgate for all trim levels, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat will become available for the Custom trim.

The engine lineup for the Silverado 2500 includes two engines, and both are available for any of the trim levels. They are:

  • A 6.6-liter V-8 gas engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. It generates 401 horsepower and gets 464 pound-feet of torque.
  • A 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It generates 445 horsepower and gets 910 pound-feet of torque.

These engines provide the Silverado with impressive towing capabilities. It can tow up to 14,500 pounds with a conventional hitch and the gas engine and up to 18,500 pounds with a conventional hitch and the diesel engine. Add a gooseneck hitch and a fifth wheel, and the diesel engine can tow up to 18,500 pounds.

Silverado drivers in the Elliot City area can choose from the WT trim, the Custom, LT, LTZ, and the High Country trim levels with the 2500HD. Some stand out features include:

  • Power-adjustable trailering mirrors on the Custom and above.
  • Chevy’s EZ Lift tailgate on the LT.
  • Optional Multi-Flex tailgate with six different functions designed to help load, unload, access the cargo bed, and create a work surface.

THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500HD

The Silverado 3500HD also sees some updates for the 2022 model year. All trims are now eligible for the Multi-Flex tailgate, and now you can get power-adjustable seats as an option for the Custom trim.

The 3500HD has the same engine lineup as the 2500. It includes:

  • A 6.6-liter V-8 gas engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. It generates 401 horsepower and gets 464 pound-feet of torque.
  • A 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It generates 445 horsepower and gets 910 pound-feet of torque.

Under the hood of the 3500, these engines provide even more towing power than they do with the 2500. When equipped with a conventional hitch and the diesel engine, it can tow up to 20,000 pounds, and with a gooseneck and fifth wheel, the 3500 can tow up to 36,000 pounds.

The 3500 comes in the same trim levels as the 2500, and each model has the same features. Other notable features you can find on the 3500 and the 2500 include:

  • An advanced trailering system with 15 different camera views, including four available hitch views and six driving views.
  • Advanced driver-assist features, including a head-up display, a digital rearview camera, forward collision warning with mitigation, a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-path alert, parking sensors, and lane-departure warning.

The infotainment system in the 3500 starts with a 7-inch touch-screen display in the lower-end models, with an 8-inch touch screen in the mid- and high-level trims. Navigation comes standard with the High Country and is optional for the LTZ. Wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard with the High Country and LTZ and are optional for the LT.
