Are you ready to get out and enjoy the summer weather? We are, too. That’s why we at Koons White Marsh Chevrolet have put together this list of six fun things to do in and around White Marsh before the end of the summer. So grab your hat, reapply that sunblock, and check out these six fantastic events and venues.

ANGEL PARK

If you have little ones you’re looking to entertain, bring them by Angel Park, a wonderful community playground located just seven minutes north of White Marsh. This space was founded and built in 2016 by the Perry Hall community thanks to a collection of generous sponsors and nearly 4,000 volunteers. It honors the life of baby Ryan Szczybor, who passed away following a battle with leukemia. The all-inclusive playground and amphitheater in his memory now spark joy in visitors of all ages. The incredible playground includes medieval and nature-themed climbing towers, slides, swings, and more.

THE AVENUE AT WHITE MARSH

This summer, take a stroll down the Avenue. This outdoor venue features some of the hottest eateries and entertainment destinations in the White Marsh area. If you’re looking to shop, you can find stores for books, soap, footwear, greeting cards, clothing, electronics, candles, and more. Dining options include coffee shops, pizzerias, pretzel stands, creameries, and bars. If you’re looking for a sit-down dining experience, check out one of the many restaurants, ranging from a Japanese steakhouse to an American burger joint. Finally, fill your day with entertainment, with options ranging from a spa to a movie theater.

SHERWOOD GARDENS

Are you looking for the perfect summer picnic destination? Look no further than Sherwood Gardens. These picturesque historic gardens date back to 1907 and were voted Best Urban Garden by the Baltimore Magazine’s annual Best of Baltimore reader’s poll. Admission to the park is free and dogs are allowed, so your entire family can enjoy an afternoon enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and soaking in the sun. 

The main event is the Sherwood Gardens Summer Flower Display, which features stunning flora from June through October. You can also time your visit to coincide with some of the gardens’ seasonal events. For example, on September 10, 2022, the gardens host the Guilford Neighbor Day, a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow Maryland residents. Or, if you like to plan ahead, you can mark your calendars for the Halloween and Pet’s Parade on October 29.

GUNPOWDER FALLS STATE PARK

Gunpowder Falls State Park is a beautiful summer destination that offers no shortage of exciting activities and scenic backdrops. Arrange for a picnic in the Hammerman Area pavilions, hike the 19.7-mile Torrey C. Brown rail trail, or visit the Jerusalem Mill Historic Village. If you’re looking for a way to cool off, you can take a dip at the Middle River swimming beach, go kayaking at Mill Pond, or even rent a boat from Dundee Creek Marina. Want more adventure? Visit the archery range or arrange for a horseback riding session through the Central Area mountain trails.

WEBER’S CIDER HILL FARM

A visit to Weber’s Cider Hill Farm offers a wide variety of fun activities for the whole family. You can enjoy fresh pressed apple cider, visit the gift shop for beautiful crafts and accessories, or stop by the barnyard to play on a tire mountain, watch duck races, visit with farm animals, race down the giant hillside slide, and ride along in a mini-tractor. There is even a maze and mini maze for guests, young and old. Hungry? Load up on fresh fruits and veggies, or stop by the Country Bakery for pastries, fudge, or ice cream.

You can also plan your visit to align with some of the fun activities that Weber’s Farm hosts. For example, you can stop by the weekend of August 6th to participate in the 8th annual Peach and Blackberry weekend. Alternatively, sign up for a Weber’s Farm Outdoor Yoga session, hosted Saturdays from April 2 through August 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Weber’s Farm requires pre-registration and encourages donations for the instructor.

PERRY HALL MINI GOLF

Miniature golf is the perfect summer activity for families and friend groups. Hosted by the Presbyterian Church of Perry Hall, the Perry Hall Mini Golf course offers 18 holes of family fun. Adults can play for $9, children between the ages of five and 10 for $7, and children under the age of four for free. Seniors above the age of 55, military personnel, and first responders all play for $5. The golf course is also a short walk from eateries where you can pick up a burger, barbeque, steak, or chicken after the game.

Hours: Noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
