Koons White Marsh Chevrolet

Jul 28, 2022

For those considering a Chevy Tahoe, you may want to wait a few months for the release of the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe SS. Rumor has it that the SS packs quite a punch. This new high-performance model gives the three-row SUV enhanced speed, making it fun to drive. The Koons White Marsh Chevrolet team proudly announces that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS is here!

EXTERIOR FEATURES

The SS on the model name of the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe SS stands for Super Sport. This new trim of the Chevy Tahoe is sure to impress when it hits the road. This new take on the Tahoe includes standard features such as distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels, with an updated front fascia to resemble more of the Silverado’s principles. You can also expect to see redesigned taillights, a unique grille, upgraded brakes, and perhaps even adaptive air suspension on the latest Tahoe trim.

Not much else is known about the exterior features at this time, as Chevrolet has been keeping the new Tahoe SS under heavy camouflage, making it a challenge for even the best spy photographers to get a good shot.

ENGINE OPTIONS

Today’s most powerful engine in the Tahoe lineup is a 6.2-liter V8 that delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This engine can take the Tahoe from zero to 60 in approximately 6.5 seconds, which is already an impressive feat for a large SUV. Imagine if Chevy adds a 6.2-liter V8 LT4 to the SS trim. That’s the engine from the Camaro ZL1 and the most-rumored engine option for the 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS.

The LT4 option cranks out 650 horsepower and up to 650 lb-ft of torque for some serious power. The Camaro goes from zero to 60 in just four seconds with the LT4 engine. The Tahoe is heavier and larger than the Camaro, so we don’t expect to see quite that fast of a takeoff, but the power option is still impressive.

Another option would be the 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. That engine is the current Tahoe standard, so it would need to be amped up to qualify as high-performance for this Super Sport trim. Of course, there are also rumors that the Tahoe SS will be equipped with a new hybrid engine or at least have one as an option. Either way, we can’t wait to see what Chevrolet puts under the hood of this high-performance Tahoe SS.

INTERIOR FEATURES

The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe SS can expect to have tri-zone weather conditions control, leather-twisted controls, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and satellite radio. It should also have a 10.2-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capabilities. The Tahoe SS offers plenty of legroom for each row, including the third row that comfortably seats any adult. The front seats will be heated and ventilated, while the second-row outboard seats will have heat. You can also expect to get keyless entry, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a dual-pane sunroof to let the sun shine in on everyone.

SAFETY AND DRIVER-ASSISTANCE FEATURES

Chevrolet knows how important safety and driver-assistance features are when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle and has packed the 2023 Tahoe SS accordingly. Standard features should include an advanced air bag system, forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and parking sensors as they’re the current standard safety and driver-assistance features on the Tahoe LS. Available features include a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, a surround-view parking camera system, and adaptive cruise control. You can drive confidently in the 2023 Tahoe SS knowing that Chevrolet has the safety of you and your passengers covered.

CARGO AND TOWING FEATURES

As a large SUV, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS is designed to be a hauler, whether that’s for cargo or people. Depending on the engine that ends up in the latest Tahoe trim, you should be able to haul between 7,500 and 8,400 pounds with the SS and the Max Trailering package. This available capacity means you can bring along the boat, RV, or ATV for a weekend of adventure and fun with your Tahoe.

You also get plenty of cargo space behind the third row to let everyone pack for the weekend. The current Tahoe offers approximately 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 73 cubic feet when you fold down the third row, and 123 cubic feet with both rear rows folded down. We don’t expect Chevy to change the available cargo space in the SS because the Tahoe is known for its ability to haul people or cargo wherever you need.

2023 CHEVY TAHOE SS RELEASE DATE

Chevrolet has not officially announced an anticipated release date for the 2023 Tahoe SS. We expect this latest trim to hit showroom floors across the nation in the late fall of 2022. Chevrolet is expected to release at least six trim levels for the Tahoe, from the base LS to the High Country. You can get a 2022 Tahoe in the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country trims. It’s unclear whether the SS will be an additional trim level, bringing the options to seven, or if it will replace one of the current trims. Either way, the anticipation is unbearable.
