Whether you want to swim laps to exercise or just enjoy a day splashing with your family, it’s important to know how to swim to ensure everyone involved is safe. We’ve created this list of some of the top places to learn how to swim in and around White Marsh to help you find somewhere to go to learn this skill.

MERRITT CLUBS

Merritt Clubs is a local chain of fitness centers with nine locations throughout the Baltimore area. It offers a range of aquatics programs to help swimmers of all ages and skill levels. This includes its Michael Phelps Swim School, which is a learn-to-swim program for all types of swimmers. It includes a curriculum focused on ensuring safety and comfort in the water, developing strokes, playing water games and sports, building rescue skills, and experiencing personal growth. Merritt Clubs also offers a selection of water aerobics classes and swim teams to join.

The White Marsh location of Merritt Clubs opens at 4:30 a.m. on Mondays and remains open around the clock until 8 p.m. on Saturdays, and it’s open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sundays. It’s located at 5301 Campbell Boulevard. It includes multiple pools, which operate seasonally.

WHITE MARSH SWIM CLUB

White Marsh Swim Club is a private swimming club. For swimming, it includes a 5,000 square-foot children’s water playground, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a water slide. Other amenities include basketball courts and a pavilion available for rent, all in a lush, park-like setting.

It offers three levels of lessons to teach swimmers about aquatic safety and skills. It begins with a level one course designed for swimmers around 4 and 5 years old. This class covers basic aquatic skills like breathing, floating, adjusting to the water, kicking, and practicing safety. Swimmers can move to level two after this class to learn about more advanced skills, such as floating without support, moving forward, and recovering to a vertical position. The final course, which is level three, emphasizes developing strokes and deep water safety skills.

White Marsh Swim Club is located at 4719 Beaconsfield Drive. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., but the specific hours for swim courses may vary. It’s important to note that taking swim lessons at White Marsh Swim Club may require a membership. However, membership may provide you access to the facility and its amenities and special events.

PINE VALLEY CLUB

Pine Valley Club is a members-only club. The facility includes a pool area, tennis courts, pickleball courts, croquet courts, and more. It offers a range of membership options based on what you want to enjoy at the club. It also welcomes guests, but they may only visit the pool and facilities a certain number of times per year.

This club offers group swim lessons, which it hosts in its heated adult pool. Lessons are open to members and non-members alike, but non-members may pay a higher fee. It offers two types of lessons. The first type is for swimmers ages 3 to 5 years old, and the other type is for swimmers 6 years old and older.

Pine Valley Club is located next to White Marsh in Rosedale at 4638 White Marsh Road. The pool operates from Memorial Day until Labor Day, and the club offers swim lessons from June to August. Pool hours during these months are 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

VALLEYBROOK COUNTRY CLUB

Valleybrook Country Club is a private club that offers swim, tennis, and miscellaneous other recreational activities. This 20-acre club offers a limited number of memberships each year. Membership provides you with access to private swim lessons, which are 30-minute lessons available by appointment only. The country club also offers group levels, which are also half-hour lessons that begin between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. While members have priority access to these lessons, the club opens these lessons to non-members if space allows.

Valleybrook Country is located less than half an hour from White Marsh in Kingsville at 1810 Valleybrook Drive. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. In addition to swim lessons, it offers a variety of special events and day camps for kids.

AQUA CULTURE TRAINING CENTER AND SWIM SCHOOL

Aqua Culture Training Center and Swim School offers a variety of swim classes for swimmers of all ages. Its goal is to help children and swimmers become smarter, safer, healthier, and more coordinated. It also typically operates a professional aquatic training center that trains pool operators, swim lessons instructors, and lifeguards according to national standards.

Swimming classes at Aqua Culture begin with infant-parent classes, which are available for children ages 6 months to 3 years old. Preschool swim lessons feature a curriculum tailored to toddlers’ developmental needs, while the lessons for school-aged swimmers are available for all levels to help them learn more strokes. This center also offers swimming lessons for adults at all levels of experience.

Aqua Culture Training Center and Swim School is located approximately half an hour from White Marsh in Forest Hill at 2213-A Commerce Road. It’s open for swimming lessons on Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. It also offers recreational swimming sessions on a sign-up basis.
